INTRODUCTION
It's fun for kids to engage in soccer camps, but the question I have is how much can they really
learn from a 1-2 week camp? I'm starting this academy which will be designed to have player interaction on an ongoing basis. I will teach boys and girls age 10-15, mainly one-on-one lessons, but will be open to some small group lessons as well. The idea is to take what they learn with me to the teams they play on, as well as apply it to their future soccer development.
My goal is to teach kids the basic/technical skills which is a critical stepping stone in their further development. I believe that
soccer learning, much like anything else in life, is the matter of practicing it correctly over and over again. I would much rather have a player do a skill correctly one time then incorrectly 20 times. When teaching/coaching it's important to identify mistakes immediately and correct them early on in the process before they become a bad habit. Improvement of technical skills is my main goal.
What you see below is a rough break down of my lessons, but I do much more then that. Players are different in terms of skill level, determination, work ethic, motivation, love for the game, so what I really do depends on many factors such as: player's personality, work ethic, motivation factor, his/her vision, determination, etc..It's important to know the player you work with not only from physical and technical but also from psychological point of view because it makes the difference in learning. I do have some repeat players already and because most of my work is one-on-one the space is limited as I can't take on too many players.
ONE-ON-ONE LESSONS experience includes:
One-on-one attention for 1 hour. A specific lesson made for the player. Beginning and Advanced ball skill training.
BEGINNING: Ball control, passing and receiving, dribbling,
shooting, defending, balanace/coordination, agility and much more....
ADVANCED: dribbling moves, shooting, finishing, plyo-metric strength training,
heading (for players 13 and older) and much more.
There will be a take home assignment for players.
SMALL GROUP LESSONS:
Sometimes parents will call me and ask me to work with 7, 12, 9, 8, etc.. year olds, of different playing abilities, in the same group. I should mention that if you are calling for small group training session please make sure to match players of equal or similar talent so that every player benefits the session. In this format, depending on the number of players we have at the time of training session the training allows for personal
attention within a challenging
small group type atmosphere. I
will devise and implement a
customized curriculum to
help players develop their
potential. Following aspects are covered:
First touch & ball Control, passing & distribution, attacking Moves & Finishing, speed & agility trainig, shooting, heading (players above 12 years of age), crossing, psychological aspects of the game, footwork, ball possession
TEAM LESSONS:
I can be hired on as a part-time trainer for any team, as per your request.
For this I charge flat $75.oo fee.
Whatever session I do I apply European approach to football (soocer).
